2007-2008 B.A. in Art and Design
After High School I have initially enrolled in the Bachelor's of Art and Design at the College of Education of the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra, in 2007, where I have completed the first of three years of education with a final classification of 16 values (out of 20). During this year I was taught, among other things, on project analysis and designing, interpretation of contemporary art, and theory of art. Even though it was a very rewarding and enlightening year, I decided to return to my hometown Aveiro, to study Civil Engineering.
2008-2013 M.Sc. in Civil Engineering
I hold a Master of Science degree (5 years of education) in Civil Engineering by the University of Aveiro, with the final classification of 14 values out of 20 (5th place out of 53 students). Even though I was taught the basics of hydraulics, foundations and geotechnics, legislation, planning and designing of steel, wood and reinforced-concrete structures, building physics, I specialised in structural engineering, in particular of old masonry buildings. My dissertation entitled "Seismic Vulnerability Assessment of Old Building Aggregates" and evaluated in 18 values (out of 20), was the starting point for my interest in seismic vulnerability assessment and earthquake risk mitigation.
2016-2020 European Doctorate in Civil Engineering
In January 2016 I started my Ph.D. in civil engineering, after having won a scholarship funded by the Portuguese Foundation of Science and Technology under the framework of the Infrarisk- Doctoral Programme (Analysis and Mitigation of Risks in Infrastructures). My research project topic was on Earthquake Risk Mitigation of Urban Cultural Heritage Assets, supervised by professor Romeu Vicente (University of Aveiro), professor Sergio Lagomarsino (University of Genoa, Italy) and Tiago Ferreira (University of Minho, Portugal).
